Our mountain vacation home is located just minutes from Hiawassee, Georgia where you can
conveniently enjoy all of the wonderful events at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds. Since its
opening in the 1970s, the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds has served as the host for premier events in
the North Georgia mountain region. Year round events include art festivals, world-class bluegrass and
country gospel concerts and rock ‘n’ roll performances along with conventions such as the Official
Fiddler's Convention and dance shows. Also in the area is the John C. Campbell Folk school, a
wonderful place to learn and be entertained by experiencing an arts and crafts getaway. The school is
listed in the "100 Best Vacations to Enrich Your Life" Book by National Geographic. So, as you enjoy a

Upcoming Events
Hamilton Rhododendron Gardens
Located within the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds, the Hamilton Rhododendron Gardens is open year-
round and boasts one of the largest collections of hybrid rhododendrons in the state of Georgia. With
more than 3,000 plants in bloom from early April to late May, visitors are invited to tour the gardens
along their pine bark trail on the shores of Lake Chatuge. Admission is free of charge, but a $3 donation
is requested.

*Blake Shelton In Concert - July 16, 2010
Blake Shelton moved to Nashville from Oklahoma in June of 1994, only two weeks after graduating from
high school. While in Nashville, Shelton worked with his biggest musical influence, Earl Thomas Conley
as well as country stars Hoyt Axton and Bobby Braddock. In 2001 Blake Shelton made his debut with
Billboard No. 1 single “Austin”, topping the charts for five weeks straight. Shelton also made his first
appearance on the stage of the famous Grand Ole Opry in the same year of his major hit.

2010 Georgia Mountain Fair - July 21-31
Look forward to the 60th annual Georgia Mountain Fair, held at the historic Georgia Mountain
Fairgrounds this summer! Thousands of visitors from across the region have experienced the excitement
and nostalgia that the event has to offer. With first class musical performances, fun carnival rides,
unique attractions and a glimpse into North Georgia’s rich history and culture, the Fair provides
something for every member of the family.

Georgia Mountain Moonshine Cruize In, is held in Hiawassee, Georgia located in the North Georgia
mountains. If you have never been to this part of the country, what a treat awaits you. It's breathtaking
views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, ice cold clear streams, charming landscape, and some of the world's
friendliest people will truly spoil you. Located on Lake Chatuge, The Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds will
host the event. You will enjoy strolling the pioneer setting, with live mountain music, folk exhibits, local
crafts, and of course hundreds of hot classic cars. With plenty of automotive vendors on display to help
you with a hard to find part for your classic car or street rod. You will love the shade trees, lakeside
views, and a chance to relax in your chair beside your hotrod with a cold glass of lemonade. All of this
will convince you to stay forever. Thanks to the City of Hiawassee and the kind people of the Georgia
Mountain Fairgrounds, there will be some good ole mountain music shows, held Friday and Saturday
night at the Anderson Music Hall located on grounds.The nominal admission charge for the show will

better place to be than the North Georgia Mountains in the fall. Each October, the 9-day event features
exciting musical performances, educational demonstrations, a flower show and the ever-popular Georgia’
s Official State Fiddlers' Convention.

John C. Campbell Folk School
The John C. Campbell Folk School offers year-round week-long and weekend classes for adults in a
wide variety of topics including crafts, art, music, dance, cooking, gardening, nature studies,
photography and writing. Over 800 courses are offered each year, taught by resident artists that are
experts in there field.
